Just-in-Time Refinement - For Development

Learn how to do refinement for a very large team

THIS IS AN ALTERNATE STRATEGY FOR REFINEMENT

 

Preparation

Have a meeting to block people’s calendars. Tell them they don’t need to join unless asked to.

NOTE: You need to know who is important to refine each story. This typically happens during sprint preperation.

Meeting Agenda

  1. For each story:

    1. Invite the people needed to point the story. This is typically done via chat like Slack or Teams.

    2. The story is reviewed. Any team member can weigh in on any aspect of the story.

    3. Once the team feels the story meets the Definition of Ready and is able to be pointed, then:

    4. The story is pointed (Story Pointing - Fibonacci Time Points), including considerations from the Definition Of Done.

    5. The story is marked as Ready and optionally assigned to the person who will take on the work.
