✏️ Exercise 2 - Connect an MCP Server

For this exercise, you're going to install and configure an MCP server of your choice.

  1. Pick an MCP server — either browse the built-in marketplace from the Copilot chat settings, or search online for one that connects to a service you use

  2. Add the configuration to .vscode/mcp.json (or install globally) — use the "Add Server" button at the bottom of that file for a guided setup

  3. Start the server and authenticate if required

  4. Open the tools panel and confirm the new tools are showing up; uncheck anything you don't need

  5. Try it out — use one of the new tools in a chat, either by referencing it with # or just describing what you want
